Texas Hold’em Tournaments In Las Vegas

Wednesday, December 9th, 2015

At some point every poker player wants to experience a Texas Hold’em tournament in Las Vegas.  After all, that’s where most of the professional poker players are.  For many poker enthusiasts it’s a once in a lifetime experience.

A trip to Las Vegas may be extremely out of the way for many of you.  If you’re planning a trip then you need to hit the felt at a tournament.  It’ll be good experience and you’ll get to rub shoulders with some great players.

Daily Events

Las Vegas has Texas Hold’em tournaments throughout the day.  You’ll have no problems finding one to play in.  The buy-ins will vary in amount.  This means that everyone will be able to play in a tournament regardless of their bankroll.  Expect to pay anywhere from ten dollars to well into the hundreds of dollars to play in a tournament.  There’s certainly something for every budget out there.  You’re not going to have to skip playing tournaments all together if you’re on a tight budget.  Though, the tournaments with lower buy-ins can be more like a free for all.

Don’t be surprised if people move all-in with junk hands.  There’s really two reasons for this.  The first being, the buy-in is so low they just don’t care.  The second is, the blinds go up so quickly in some of these cheaper tournaments that it’s basically gambling.  Generally the faster blinds go up, the more lose people play.  If they don’t, the blinds will eventually eat away at their chip stack.

Do you research online before going to a poker room

Don’t show up at any poker room and ask what their tournament schedule is.  There are several sites online that show what the upcoming tournaments are.  Doing the proper research will ensure that you choose the right tournament.  It’ll also help you get the most out of your Las Vegas experience.  It’ll save time that you’d otherwise be spending zig zagging all over town searching for tournaments.

There are tournaments every day of the week and sites with the information are easily found.  Bookmark the sites before you go on vacation so they’re easily accessible when you’re in Las Vegas.

Never gamble with money that you can’t lose.  This should be a rule number one for anyone that loves to gamble.  It has to be especially true for those of you on a vacation.  Don’t enter a big tournament with all your spending money.  You very well could end up on the other end of a bad beat and lose it all.
Breakfast at the soup kitchen isn’t going to so great the next day if you’re broke.  This is why you should set aside money before you go to Las Vegas for tournament play.  You may even consider choosing which tournaments to play in before your vacation begins  This way you’ll be able to plan your other activities and also budget your poker fun better.

BIG Tips

The most important thing to remember when playing in Las Vegas poker tournaments is to have fun.  Don’t go there thinking you’re going to win every single one.  What you should be seeking instead is a good time.  You’re on vacation and you should relax a little and enjoy yourself.

Have a drink or two and don’t have a look on your face like someone that’s constipated while playing poker.  It very well could be the first and only trip to Las Vegas that you ever make.  You might as well have yourself a good time and let the chips fall where they may.

Texas Hold’em Is Easy?

Saturday, December 5th, 2015

The rules of Texas Hold’em are quite simple and that’s why it’s a popular game.  The game itself is very easy to learn, but difficult to master.  Here we’re going to give you a brief summary of the rules.

The best way to learn how to play is by finding a free poker room online.  There you’ll be able to learn how to play and also have a good time.  There’s nothing better than being able to play against real opponents anytime of the day or night.  It doesn’t matter when you’re at the computer, there’s always a poker game going on somewhere online.

First off, let’s talk about the button

The orginal purpose of the button is to show who’s turn it is to deal.  It’s not used for this purpose any more, unless you’re playing a home game.  The button now is mostly used by players to know when they should post the blind.  Texas Hold’em rules state each player at some point will be forced to pay the small and big blind.

The two players left of the button will post the small and big blind.  The small blind is always roughly half the size of the big blind.  All players are forced to pay the blinds at some point.  The reason for this is, it puts money in the pot.  Texas Hold’em has no antes and it’s the blinds that makes up for it.

Each player is dealt two cards face down

There is a round of betting that begins the hand.  After the first round of betting there’s what’s called the flop.  These are three community cards that anyone can use to make a hand.  Following the flop there is another round of betting.  The next card to come is the turn or fourth street.  This too is followed by another round of betting.  The last card to be dealt is called the river or fifth street.

There is a final round of betting after the river card is dealt.  A player only has to show their cards if a bet is placed and their opponent calls on the river.  If everyone except the bettor folds on the river, no cards have to be shown.  The cards also have to be shown if everyone checks on the river.

The minium bet during any part of the hand is the price of the big blind

When playing No Limit Texas Hold’em a bet of any size larger than the big blind is acceptable.  In fact, a player can bet their entire chip stack if they choose to.  A player can check after the flop and during any of the streets.  If all players check, no bets are needed to see additional cards.

It should be noted that when playing Texas Hold’em all five cards are community cards.  That means anyone can use any of the cards on the board to complete their hand.  When no players make a hand, the player with the highest card wins the pot.

You’re not going to be able to read one article and become a poker expert

There are many things not covered in this article.  Things such as split pots and side bets.  The purpose of this is to give a very basic outline for those who’ve never played the game before.  The best advice is to go to find a place online and play there for free.  You don’t even need to go to a poker room as there are all kinds of sites offering poker.  Crack open a cold beer and learn how the game is played.  That’s the best advice anyone will ever give a new player.

Texas Hold’em Poker Online

Monday, October 5th, 2015

Texas Hold’em is the most popular poker game currently being played.  There are countless casinos offering this game all over the world.  It can also be played online at a wide variety of poker rooms.  There is no shortage of places for people to play Texas Hold’em.  Finding a table is always as easy as pointing and clicking.  It doesn’t matter if it’s day or night, you’ll always be able to find a cash game or tournament to play in.

Texas Hold’em Poker Online
The reason why Texas Hold’em has become so popular is because it’s easy to learn.  All it takes is a few hours to learn how to play the game.  The rules are fairly simple and even a beginner can lose all their money in no time flat.  Which is what happens to many new players who step up to the table.  It’s for this reason that beginners should play in tournaments.  You’ll get the most bang for your buck and you can’t go totally broke.  That is unless your blow your whole wad on one entry fee.  Play only those that have small buy-ins when starting out.  This is the best way to maximize your bankroll as a beginner.

Gamblers like the ability to bet the amount they choose at any given time.  This is another reason for the explosion in popularity that Texas Hold’em has experienced.  The ability to go all-in on any hand means there’s always the potential for action.

It’s important to realize there are different types of poker players.  Not everyone is sitting at the table studying the game like a brain surgeon.  There are people that just want to have a good time and gamble.  They view poker like others do slot machines or lottery tickets.  It’s a pure gamble and they could care less what the outcome is.  Just as long as they have a good time putting their money at risk.

The ability to play Texas Hold’em online is probably the biggest reason of all that the game is so popular.  The internet makes gambling much easier and exciting.  You don’t want to wait around all day for a home game to take place.  Who knows if there’ll ever be enough players show up to get a game started.  You also don’t have to drive to a casino and play there.  That’s inconvenient and it’s possible you don’t even have a casino in your area.  For many players the only choice they have is online poker.  The fact that most people own computers these days and the internet is as affordable as ever makes online play extremely attractive.

Gambling has existed since the dawn of time.  People have always found creative ways to lose their money.  Texas Hold’em is just today’s fad for doing so.  There’ll be something else to come along that will dazzle people, which is what fantasy sports is attempting to do.  As long as you’ve got money in your pocket to gamble with, someone will find a way to make it all possible.  Never gamble with money you can’t afford to lose.  Unless you’re about to get a divorce and the old hag will get half of it.  The sky is the limit then.  Go all in with a junk and hand ride it into the sunset.
